Productions

The Freedom Theatre regularly stages in-house theatre and performing arts productions. These plays often reflect, comment upon and challenge the realities of contemporary Palestinian society, while exploring various forms of artistic expressions. Past productions include adaptations of Animal Farm, Alice in Wonderland, Men in the Sun, Waiting for Godot, The Island and The Caretaker, as well as original plays such as Sho Kman? and Fragments of Palestine.

Fragments of Palestine 

Fragments of Palestine is an original play by The Freedom Theatre, developed out of the actors’ own stories of everyday life under occupation. An emotional and at times painful journey through Palestine – crossing checkpoints; going to work without permits; living in a refugee camp with no privacy; being sent to prison on suspicion of throwing a stone; building houses for settlers. Men in the SunMen in the Sun Rabea II

Men in the Sun is a story of human suffering and tragedy, but it is also a narrative of dreaming of and remembering the past. This adaptation of the famous novel by Palestinian writer Ghassan Khanafani, highlights the different traumas that encompass the life of a refugee, while also having a poignant political resonance with current events in the Middle East.
