As a part of our Child & Youth programme, we have initiated our first theatre club in Faquaa, a small village outside of Jenin, with a group of incredible young people! We will work with them twice a week for the next 5 weeks on a project about identity. The workshops will end with a presentation in the village, showcasing the children’s individual identity within the societal constraints of Palestinian life. We are also continuing with similar workshops at the theatre in Jenin refugee camp and hope to extend the theatre clubs to more surrounding villages in the new year.

The theatre clubs provide a space in which girls and boys can express themselves freely and explore their creativity, to play and learn through drama and representation, focusing on training and games as well as creating harmony and teamwork in a safe and fun environment. In addition to activities and games, our facilitators include the basics of theatrical training and practical ways to freely express themselves in society, through art, drama and physical movement. To The Freedom Theatre, the theatre clubs are alos an opportunity to hear and share untold histories from more communities in Palestine.
