Building a Theatre
Performances and workshops in theatre and performing arts currently take place in a rented building in the heart of Jenin Camp. This space consists of a small, well-equipped theatre with seating for up to 200 children or adults, as well as a workshop space. Considering the rapid growth of The Freedom Theatre and its activities programme however, it is clear that these spaces will soon be insufficient to meet the continuously growing demand.
The Freedom Theatre is therefore currently developing plans for building a new, professional theatre in Jenin Refugee Camp, which will be able to serve the populations of the camp, Jenin town and surrounding villages.
A large piece of land has already been purchased in Jenin Camp and plans for the
new building are currently being drawn up. Building work will begin as soon as sufficient funding has been guaranteed for the project.
