Drama Activities
The Freedom Theatre’s drama therapy and drama activities introduce children and youth to basic skills in acting, with an emphasis on the playful and therapeutic aspects of theatre. During the workshops children and youth explore their internal conflicts and act out their emotions in a safe and contained structure. Through improvisations, movement and stories, the participants learn to better understand themselves and their surroundings.
The workshops also encourage concentration and commitment, by engaging children and youth in the exciting process of preparing their own plays.
This is an important step in the development and empowerment of participants who are given the opportunity to see the fruits of their labour and share them with the wider community.
